Transport Compliance Software for the People Who Answer to the Auditor

When the NHVR or your accreditation auditor asks for records, there’s no “we’ll get back to you next week.” You need to show what happened, when it happened and what you did about it, often across hundreds of drivers and thousands of hours.

ManageVehicle is transport compliance software built for safety and compliance officers. EWD records, fatigue alerts, risk registers and audit reports are kept in one place, ready whenever someone asks.

Compliance got harder in 2026

The amended Heavy Vehicle National Law commenced on 1 August 2026 with no grace period, and a few changes landed squarely on compliance teams:

  • The duty not to drive while impaired now covers more than fatigue, including illness, injury, medication and other factors, and applies to all heavy vehicles over 4.5 tonnes GVM
  • Safety management system audit findings can now be used as evidence in court for Chain of Responsibility breaches
  • NHVAS is being replaced over time by Heavy Vehicle Accreditation, with a General Safety Accreditation as the baseline
  • Maximum CoR penalties for a Category 1 offence now reach $4,230,550 for a corporation

Enforcement is stepping up too. In the NHVR’s Operation Ambit II in March 2026, more than 6,100 vehicles were intercepted and false or misleading records rose 42%.

In short, your records aren’t just paperwork anymore. They’re your evidence.

How ManageVehicle supports your compliance program

EWD records you can trust. MV Driver is an NHVR-approved Electronic Work Diary. Work and rest hours are recorded automatically and kept in a format that’s ready to review or hand over.

Fatigue alerts before a breach, not after. Fatigue management tools flag drivers who are approaching their limits, so you can step in early rather than find out at a roadside check.

Risk registers and incident records. Log hazards, controls, faults and incidents in one system, with actions and follow-ups tracked against each entry.

Audit reports in a few clicks. Documents management and reporting brings together driver records, maintenance history, pre-starts and fatigue data, so preparing for an audit is a matter of pulling reports, not rebuilding them.

Evidence from the road. Smart dashcams and driver behaviour alerts give you footage and data to investigate incidents and back up your safety decisions.

Showing “reasonably practicable steps”

Under Chain of Responsibility, it’s not enough to have policies. You need to show they’re actually working. That’s the idea behind PSOE audits: are your controls Present, Suitable, Operating and Effective?

ManageVehicle helps with the “operating” and “effective” parts, which are usually the hardest to prove. When every pre-start, fatigue alert and corrective action is logged with a date and an owner, you can show your system is doing its job, not just sitting in a binder. Our article on NHVR fleet reporting goes through the reports most auditors expect to see.

FAQ

Can we export records for an NHVR request or audit? Yes. Reports for work and rest hours, maintenance, pre-starts and incidents can be generated and exported when you need them.

Does ManageVehicle replace our safety management system? It supports it. Your SMS sets the policies and controls, and ManageVehicle captures the records that show those controls are working.

Is the EWD approved by the NHVR? Yes. MV Driver has been listed on the NHVR’s approved EWD register since 22 September 2026.
