Starting Monday, June 3, new reduced speed limits will be implemented at four locations in Pambula and Broadwater. This measure was placed in response to safety concerns raised by NSW Police and the local community.
Details of the Changes:
- Princes Highway, Broadwater:
- The speed limit will be reduced from 100 km/h to 80 km/h over an 8.5-kilometer stretch.
- This change is expected to add approximately one and a half minutes to journey times.
- Over the past five years, this section has seen 20 crashes, including 13 moderate to serious incidents.
- Princes Highway, Pambula:
- The speed limit will be reduced from 100 km/h to 80 km/h from 180 meters north of Stringybark Place to 120 meters north of Brunker Street.
- This section has recorded two moderate injury crashes within the review length over the past five years.
- Monaro Street, Pambula:
- The 50 km/h speed limit will be extended 300 meters further south to slow down traffic before a busy intersection.
- Pambula Beach Road, Pambula:
- The speed limit will be reduced from 80 km/h to 60 km/h from 70 meters west of McPherson Circuit to 190 meters west of the Catholic College access.
- The speed limit will be reduced from 80 km/h to 60 km/h from 70 meters west of McPherson Circuit to 190 meters west of the Catholic College access.

“The review found a speed reduction to 80 km/h would better suit the roadside environment and reduce the likelihood and severity of crashes,” a spokesperson from Transport for NSW (TfNSW) said.
“Speeding is the biggest contributor to road trauma in NSW so it’s important that motorists are aware of the changed speed limits and follow the road rules,” they added.
Message boards will be installed to alert motorists to the new speed limits.
